Making Strides in the Real World [ARCHIVED POST 02/19/2019]

Most of you probably don’t enjoy most of my long-winded existential ramblings on here, so I’ll make this as brief if I can. I’ll be talking about two things today: books and videos.

To start off with, I’m compiling a reading list on Amazon of books I would like to read at some point in my life. Some of these are very recent releases about current events, such as The Right Side of History: How Reason and Moral Purpose Made the West Great by Ben Shapiro (which actually comes out one month from now officially); some are classic books that I can’t believe I haven’t read by now, such as Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury; and some have been recommended by close friends, such as Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. I’ll be adding more books to this list as I find them, but my hope is to start reading them to gain new knowledge, new perspectives, and new stories that will help me in my own writing and life together. I’ll share this list publicly in case anything I list strikes your fancy, and if anybody has another suggestion, please let me know what I should consider adding to the list! http://a.co/eNNnwys

Now for videos, most of you who know me probably are aware that I am studying Telecommunications at Ball State. Those who know me well also are aware that I first got involved with TCOM production in high school, both with my church’s student ministry group and on my school’s news program (Yes, I was the PNN weatherman. No, I’m not linking any of those videos here.) Fast forward to 2019 and I am now learning basic audio and video production in the “Gateway” class here on campus. In order to show that I am actually doing the nitty-gritty work, I’ve decided to upload the videos I’ve shot and edited so far on to my own personal YouTube channel. A makeshift portfolio, if you will. If you are interested in watching my videos, I’ll link you to my channel (only two videos exist so far). If you think they look great, I’ll appreciate the feedback! If you think they suck (which they probably do), feel free to keep those thoughts in your head where they belong. Believe me, my professors will let me know how and why my videos are terrible. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdSe58HAYbmtAWtcmZWufyw

That’s about all I have for today. I’ll be sure to update both of those links with appropriate content when I can. I’ll also be sure to update this blog as often as I feel the need to do so (hopefully at least once a week or so.) Until then, be sure to watch my videos on repeat. They’ll provide free and simple entertainment for a few minutes at the least.
